Founded in 1727 by Sawai Jai Singh, Jaipur is called the "Pink City" for its unique, rose coloured buildings 💗

Jaipur is a city of ancient forts & royal palaces sat among lush green hills and a hub for traditional Rajasthani crafts like block printing, pottery, textiles and jewelry making.

The city also hosts various festivals, like Diwali, Holiday, the Elephant festival and the Jaipur Literature Festival, one of the largest literary festivals in the world! 🌍

Start Early with Hawa Mahal
Begin your day just after sunrise at the Hawa Mahal, or "Palace of Winds." This five-story pink sandstone facade with 953 small windows was built for royal women to observe street festivities unseen. The best view of Hawa Mahal is from the street, bathed in the golden morning light. Spend about 30 minutes here taking photos and soaking in the history.

Next Stop: Panna Meena ka Kund
From Hawa Mahal, take a short 20–25 minute drive to Panna Meena ka Kund, a beautiful and lesser-known stepwell located near Amer. This symmetrical staircase is not only an architectural marvel but also offers a quiet, reflective spot away from the city’s bustle. Spend about 20 minutes here.

Explore Amer Palace and Fort
A quick drive from the stepwell leads you to the majestic Amer Palace and Fort. This expansive fort complex, with its intricate carvings, mirror work in Sheesh Mahal, and panoramic views of the surrounding hills, is one of Jaipur’s top attractions. Allocate at least 1.5 to 2 hours here. Consider taking a guided tour or hiring an audio guide to better understand the history and architecture.

Brief Visit to Choubara
After Amer, make a quick stop at Choubara, a traditional Rajasthani circular marketplace or observation tower, depending on the reference. If you’re referring to the viewing platform near the old markets, this is a good place to take in the bustling life of Jaipur. Spend around 15 minutes here before heading toward the city center.

Lunch Break and Jal Mahal View
En route back into the city, stop briefly at Jal Mahal, the beautiful "Water Palace" located in the middle of Man Sagar Lake. While entry inside isn’t permitted, the view from the promenade is breathtaking. Snap a few photos and grab a quick lunch at one of the nearby cafés or restaurants offering local cuisine.

Explore The City Palace
Next, head to the City Palace, located in the heart of Jaipur. The complex includes museums, courtyards, and royal residences. Don’t miss the Mubarak Mahal and the elegant Peacock Gate. A guided tour here is well worth the time. Spend around an hour exploring.

Final Stop: Jantar Mantar
Just next to the City Palace is Jantar Mantar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved observatories in India. Built by Maharaja Jai Singh II, it houses gigantic astronomical instruments that still work with astonishing precision. Allocate about 30–45 minutes here to explore the unique structures and learn about ancient astronomy.

Wrap-Up
By sunset, you’ll have covered Jaipur’s key sights. While one day isn’t enough to fully absorb the city’s charm, this itinerary offers a satisfying glimpse into its royal past, architectural wonders, and cultural richness. Wear comfortable shoes, keep water handy, and prepare to be awed at every turn in this magical city.
