Northern Laos is a mountainous, scenic region known for its stunning landscapes, rich culture, and adventure opportunities.

Highlights include the UNESCO-listed town of Luang Prabang, famous for its French colonial architecture, Buddhist temples, and the nearby Kuang Si Waterfalls.

The Mekong and Nam Ou Rivers provide opportunities for boat trips and kayaking. The region is also home to Muang Ngoi and Nong Khiaw, peaceful villages surrounded by limestone cliffs.

For adventure seekers, Phongsaly offers trekking through remote hill tribe villages, while the Plain of Jars in Xieng Khouang presents an archaeological mystery. The best time to visit is the dry season (November–April).
